Pack of 3 Larger, Seedless Lotus Pods measuring 3 to 4 inches diameter.
Great way to add natural water buffering properties in fish tanks that house shrimp, or in a black water fish tank. The tannins will leach into the water and provide beneficial tercatin and other natural additives for your tank inhabitants. The holes provide hides for shrimp, fry and other micro fauna in the biome. The surface area provides plenty of room for beneficial bacteria and diatoms to grow.
These pods are also great to use in many bioactive reptile and amphibian enclosures and provide a great space for the clean up crew ( springtails and isopods) to hide.
We do heat treat these, but always advise you to freeze them before adding them into your bioactive enclosure. For aquarists, we recommend to boil the lotus pods for 15 minutes, to activate the release of the tannins and to allow the pods to sink in the fish tank.
