Horticultural Charcoal

Horticultural charcoal is used in bio-active enclosures for reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates such as isopods, springtails etc. Plant hobbyists use the same charcoal in their potted plants and terraria, specifically closed terraria. Springtail keepers even use horticultural charcoal as the media to grow their springtail colony. 

The reason that horticultural charcoal is so widely used is attributed to its excellent filtration quality and as a natural odor absorbing material. In addition to these benefits, by adding the horticultural charcoal to your build, you are supplying beneficial microorganisms a place to congregate and thrive within the biome. 

The charcoal that we use is produced and packaged in the U.S, and is of high quality charred hardwood such as oak and maple.
