This mix contains a variety of our C. murina isopods, including wild type (grey), Papaya and our own "Florida Orange" isolate. Because of this mix, the murina that will result from this groups breeding can be standard grey, pink, orange, white or a combination color morph that hasn't been line proven and can include pied, mottled and other variations of the above mentioned colors.

We first discovered this species in our very own backyard, and have since raised many generations from the original few. Like all Cubaris species, the murina does well with an additional calcium source that is either limestone or closely mimics it. We use aquarium limestone rock in our enclosures, as well as cuttlebone. This keeps the exoskeleton of the animal in optimum condition.

We make sure to add plenty of leaf litter as their main food source, which is supplemented with high protein foods such as Fluval BSF fish flakes, dried minnow, shrimp and vegetables like carrot and pumpkin. Repashy Morning Wood and Bug Burger are also given weekly. We have noticed that our Cubaris murina also like bee pollen granules when given bi-weekly. This locale breeds relatively quickly and offers up larger broods.

We keep the enclosures at room temperature (75F -90F) and only moisten the mossy part of their enclosure, leaving the rest of the substrate somewhat dry with the exception of a weekly misting. The humidity in Florida ranges from 50% up to 80% and these little isopods seem to thrive in our natural environment, in room temps indoors with the windows open.

We recommend the Cubaris murina isopod mix for tropical and subtropical bioactive enclosures featuring snakes and lizards from areas such as the Southern U.S, Central America, South America and Southeast Asian habitats.
