Bat Guano

Bat Guano is an important way to add phosphate into your bioactive setups, it is also said to be a key dietary item to Cubaris species of isopods. We use only finely ground bat guano with no added chemicals or additives, as this provides the safest option for your pets.

In Cubaris species (Cubaris murina, Rubber Ducky, Panda Kings, etc..) enclosures we recommend adding no more than a 1/4 teaspoon amount of bat guano to the substrate and mixing it in, as well as providing a very thin layer sprinkled on top the substrate under the leaf layer. 

For houseplants- Bat guano can be used as a top dressing fertilizer in wet or dried form. You can either incorporate it directly into the top layer of soil before planting or during active growth, or you can turn it into a solution referred to as “bat guano tea” and use it when watering your plants.

Additional Use-  Bat guano can also be used as a compost activator. The organic elements within guano speed up the decomposition process. It can also be used as a natural fungicide to control nematodes in the soil.

Warning- Please use caution when adding this into your substrate or bins. Too much can cause a nitrogen overload and may harm your isopods. Use in well ventilated area, as the fine dust can irritate the eyes and lungs.
