Banana Stem Pieces - Botanical Additive for Terrariums, Vivariums and Freshwater Fish Tanks.

Banana stems are an easy way to add interest to the bio-active floor of your vivarium or terrarium.

They not only add visual interest by looking like vertebrae but they provide a beneficial surface for good bacteria to colonize which will feed your springtails and isopods.

In a fish tank, banana stems are great for freshwater shrimp tanks or black water tank set ups.

The banana stem surface allows beneficial bacteria to grow, the nubs on the stems provide little places for shrimp and shrimplets to hang out and the stem itself will leach tannins in to the water and provide those beneficial properties for your tank.

The banana stems come in a pack of 6 and measure between 3-5" long. Because they are a natural product, no two are the same! We scald the stems in boiling water and then bake them to ensure no outside contamination occurs.

For fish tank use, I recommend boiling the stems for 20 minutes to aid in them sinking.
